Getting Fault Code P2080 up on an 18 month old GTX 260 iS LTD. Usual 'check engine' indication and nothing else. No limp home mode mind, she'll still run in Touring or Sport. I took mine out, removed the cover and saw signs of moisture damage on the circuit board but no moisture in it. I cleaned it and put electrical grease all over the board. If you are referring to your 2003 4tec, then the answer is "no" the ECU doesn't have to be married or flashed to your LCD gauge. Just put it in and use the keys that were programmed to it or program new ones. The 2007 or so and newer ones do need to be married.
