The 5840, 1404, and 853 are the serial numbers; originally they could have matched from the factory, but again there are many unmatched P38 pistols out there. The proof marks on the frame, barrel, and slide (the eagle over 359/135) are all from the Wehrmacht era. The "359" is a Walther mark and the "135" is a Mauser mark.This P38 displays the typical "C" block characteristics; single proof mark right side of slide, mismatched parts, and white metal hammer. The mag is jvd marked and there are various waffenampt markings with both WaA135 and 359. The grips are in very good condition. Overall this is a very nice piece, and immediately caught my attention.
